A small courtyard designed as a scene, viewed directly from the main living area. Despite it’s quaint 16m2 size the space encompasses a monochrome scheme with a centralized fireplace. A black bistro table and chairs set over black limestone setts compliments the inner hearth of the fire, planters and the framework of the mirror above.
It is unusual to use black in a small space but the light walls contrast the dark and create drama and look wonderful at night when the planting is lit. Lighting is provided by up-lights under the Olive trees and also from two delicate wall lamps either side of the fireplace. The garden brief of ‘dark and sexy’ as well as ‘light and bright’ married perfectly with the textures and verdant tones of the evergreen planting.
