The Wasteland
About This Project
The Wasteland was inspired by Kate’s personal experiences working in and around London.
Designed as a community space imagined on an abandoned industrial site, the garden makes use of the harsh industrial materials already in place and softens them with planting, water features and trees.
Waste products that have been reused within the garden include an old storm drain, corrugated steel panels, old timber and crazy paving for flooring as well as an old bath tub and shopping trolleys which were made into a seat and a screen respectively.
The planting is shade tolerant and designed to be busier in the spring when there is more natural water available.
