An old factory has been transformed into a residential home with a large roof terrace leading off an open plan lounge / diner. The space has views over South London and its industrial landscape. The terrace was designed for eating and lounging with built-in black planters planted for all season interest with Trachelopsermum jasminoides, Buxus and colourful summer blooms. A sculptural piece from Blue canopy and a water feature sit at opposite ends of the terrace and are lit at night. In the evening a bespoke gel fire can be lit and this acts as part coffee table / part fire. Landscaping materials took their lead from the interior of the property which is bright and light and so a pale limestone was used as the main flooring material with a contrasting strip of Ip’e decking under the dining table and chairs. Cedar trellis provides privacy all around the terrace and helps to create the illusion of a private haven in the city.
